Designed for precise, intricate cuts, the 10589 slices through vinyl, felt, paper and cardstock, stencils, thermal shrink wrap, leather, frisket material, plastic quilting template material, freezer paper, and foam core board. We do not recommend the Slice craft knife for any action that subjects the blade to a side load. Like all craft knives, it is unsuitable for hard materials such as wood, glass, or concrete. Microscopic chips may occur in the blade edge, but these do not affect cutting performance. The 10589 craft knife features a no-tool blade Change system for easier handling. While this knife ships with a 10518 (straight edge, rounded tip) blade for cutting, there are many optional Slice safety blades. Note that a pointed tip may be more suitable to initiate cuts in some materials.
